In the power sector, 2012 has been a very bad year with zero projects commenced. Unfortunately all the ingredients of the sector have gone wrong. Coal, environÂmental clearances and land became a huge problem for any power project. So whatever projects were on the anvil have also got delayed or shelved.

JSW Ispat is the 2nd largest steel firm
JSW Ispat Steel is the second largest steel company in the country with a capacity of 14.3 million tonne per annum. The company became the second largest steel producer following the merger of Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Steel with JSW Ispat (formerly Ispat Industries). JSW Steel acquired Ispat Industries from the Mittals in December 2010 for Rs 2,160 crore.
L&T achieves financial closure for its Maha road projects
For two of its road projects in Maharashtra, L&T Infrastructure Development Projects (L&T IDPL), a subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro Ltd, and one of the pioneers in infrastructure development in India, has achieved financial closure on November 30.

UP, Gujarat, TN, Maha have large share in road projects
The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) has said that Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra together have over 50 per cent share in the road projects being undertaken in the country.
Maharashtra has most operational toll roads: Study
The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) has stated that Maharashtra has 21 road projects worth over Rs 4,800 crore under operation in public-private partnership (PPP) mode as of August.
Uttar Pradesh has over 15 road projects (33 per cent) worth over Rs 55,000 crore under construction and Karnataka has 53 road projects (49 per cent) worth over Rs 25,000 crore under bidding, the apex industry body added.
Maha spends Rs 2,368 cr on its roads
Maharashtra has a road network of 2,41,000 km. The state’s expenditure on roads has increased from Rs 539 crore in 2005 to Rs 2,368 crore. In 1996, the state government decided to formulate a private-public-partnership (PPP) policy to finance its Road Development Plan (1981–2001), which in turn called for about Rs 26,000 crore of investments.
