Varanasi Nagar Nigam (VNN) will install Geographical Information System (GIS) and Management Information System for the city under the Ganga Action Plan-II. The project is part of the institutional development program, financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Trash skimmers to be used for Ganga surface cleaning
The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) will introduce trash skimmers for surface cleaning of the river in six more cities in the first week of this month. The cities are Rishikesh, Haridwar, Garh Mukhteshwar, Sahibganj, Kolkata and Navdweep. Urban Local Bodies will be the nodal agency to monitor this work.

MoU inked for speedy work on Namami Gange
The Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation (MoWR, RD & GR) has signed an MoU in New Delhi with the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoA & FW) for speedy implementation of the Namami Gange programme.
