To take up restoration and rehabilitation activities in cyclone Phailin hit areas, the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank have assured a financial assistance of $313 million to Odisha government. Representatives of the two international funding agencies met the State Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the capital Bhubaneswar on November 13.

Dip in Railways’ October freight load
For Indian Railways, October proved to be a bad month in freight loading. There was a drop of 1.67 million tonne during the month. The reason was major freight loading zonal railways were hit by the inclement weather, particularly cyclone Phailin.
Hindrances on railway station road in Bhubaneswar
The recent Phailin caused hindrances on the road leading to the railway station in Bhubaneswar are yet to be cleared by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Phailin effect: Operations suspended at ports
Due to the cyclone Phailin all operations at Dhamra, Paradip and Gopalpur ports in Odisha were suspended for two days. Since ships also run the risk of damaging the berths, all ports have moved the vessels away.
