Power Grid to take up 4 projects

To launch four power projects, Indian government-owned Power Grid Corporation is to invest Rs 2,820.04 crore. The power transmission major would invest Rs 1,364.52 crore in 'Eastern Region Strengthening Scheme-V' project, with commissioning expected in 30 months, the company said in a regulatory filing on October 30.

In the United Kingdom (UK), Indian government-owned Infrastructure Finance Company (IIFCL-UK), the London arm, has sanctioned credit for a slew of power projects in the country. The projects that have received Board sanction of the London arm on October 10 include GMRÂ’s power project at Chhattisgarh, the Shishir Bajaj GroupÂ’s power project at Lalitpur and the port component of the Pipavav project.

An Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) has been constituted to quickly resolve infrastructural issues and to ensure speedy implementation of power projects in the north-east. The Minister of State (I/C) for Power, Jyotiraditya Scindia said that 94 power projects are pending due to want of clearances in various ministries.
