Govt is examining Jet-Etihad stake sale: PMO
The Prime Minister's Office on July 2 said that the Jet Airways-Etihad deal was still under examination. It also asserted there were no differences within the government over the air services agreement between India and Abu Dhabi.
NHAI wants PMO’s help to save relinquished road projects
The Prime Minister's Office help has been sought by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for salvaging projects abandoned by the developers and starting those projects that have found no takers till now. The Authority's missive comes even as the government has deferred a much-awaited decision to resuscitate stalled highway projects by allowing an easier exit option for road developers.
SC’s nod to delinking of environment, forest clearances
The Supreme Court has approved the revised norms for infrastructure road projects that delink the environment and forest clearances - formulated by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) last month to end the face-off between the environment and forests ministry and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). On the basis of its interpretation of a judgment in the case of Lafarge, the ministry had insisted such projects should take environment and forest clearances.
Highways Ministry submits its report to PMO
A detailed report by the Union Highways Ministry has submitted to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on year-wise construction/expansion of National Highway (NH) since 1998. The report shows that maximum completion of work (2,693 km) happened during 2009-10 and the second highest (2,351 km) was recorded during 2004-05.
NHAI reaches out to h’way builders to look into their issues
Troubled by the decision of two leading developers to walk out of two large road contracts, key ministries led by the Prime Minister's Office have initiated a damage control exercise to ensure that other private developers do not follow suit, leaving behind a raft of halfbuilt highway projects.
