RGPPL shuts operation in Dabhol power plant
Since June 6, the 1,967 mw-Dabhol power plant in Maharashtra has been closed owing to lack of natural gas. Ratnagiri Gas & Power (RGPPL), which owns the plant, is demanding gas linkage for the plant in order to restart generation. This is the second time the project remains shut after April 2013, Between February 21 and April 2, the plant remained closed because of a lack of gas supply.

LEA makes suggestion on Hyderabad metro project
Consultancy firm LEA Associates recommended L&T Hyderabad Metro Rail to take up longer span works at junctions going up to 34 metre or about 112 feet with segmental construction. However, in cases where the length is more than 34 metre, such structures will have to be constructed on the site against pre-fabricated links and shifted for the project implementation
Govt to offer 7 open cast mines to raise coal output
The government has proposed to offer seven Open Cast Mines of about 25 million tonne capacity to Mine Developer-cum-Operators (MDOs) by this year end to increase coal production. Besides this, 14 blocks for power and three for mining have been put on offer recently under Government Dispensation Route and allocation of these blocks will be completed shortly
IDBI Bank raps project developer for delay in KMP e’way
In a rare instance of plainspeak by a banker, IDBI Bank, the lead lender of the Rs 2,000-crore western peripheral expressway, has blamed the developer's lack of commitment for the project being delayed by over four years with no completion in sight. Bihar to execute key construction work in FY14
The building construction department (BCD) of the Bihar government, which has a plan size of over Rs 78 crore for 2013-14, is set to develop key construction works including Bihar Museum, International Convention Centre and MLA or MLC flats etc. The department will also implement the expansion of secretariat, police headquarters building and employment exchange among others
JICA wants govt to clear key projects
Media reports indicate that the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) asked union Finance Minister P Chidambaram to arrange a Cabinet meeting and other processes to clear loan proposal for four key projects. Land ports to be developed jointly by Bangladesh, India
In order to ensure cost-efficiency and expeditious trading between the two countries, India and Bangladesh decided to develop their land ports.
