Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra signed the Ordinance which would allow state government to acquire land for the Rs 880 crore Bhatinda-Srinagar gas pipeline project. The project, which involves laying of the 750-kilometer gas pipeline from Bhatinda in Punjab to Srinagar via Jammu, is scheduled for completion in three years. Gujarat State Petronet Limited (GSPL) received contract for the project in June 2011

Kerala govt to build 22 new roads
The Kerala State Cabinet on June 12 gave its approval to an ambitious project to develop 22 new roads/flyovers in various parts of the state and the State capital Thiruvananthapuram. Flyovers will be built at Palarivattom, Vytilla and Kundanoor on the Edapally-Aroor stretch of the National Highway and at Kalamaserry Apollo junction, as part of the project. Steel production capacity rises 36% to 90 mn t
Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma informed that capacity of steel production in the country has risen from 66 million tonne (mn t) in 2009 to about 90 mn t in 2012, which is a 36 per cent growth. He said this during a meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee attached to his ministry. Steel output in the country expanded 4.3 per cent in 2012, he informed members of the committee
