Punjab may fire up units at Ropar plant
With the demand for power rising up to 12,500 MW, the Punjab Government has decided to restart the operations at two thermal units of Ropar power plant.

The Indian Railways and the Punjab Government have decided to form a joint venture company to fast track planned rail projects in the state as well as take up new projects, including creation of ultra modern railway stations and laying new railway tracks.
Punjab to widen Sangrur-Khanouri road at Rs 600 cr
The Punjab government is to expand the 60 km long Sangrur-Khanouri road into four-lanes at Rs 600 crore, mainly to strengthen road connectivity with Delhi area for Malwa region in the state. The road expansion is expected to strengthen the infrastructure in Punjab. The road lead to New Delhi through Haryana.
Punjab’s Kharar-Ludhiana road to be six-laned
The process for six laning of Kharar-Ludhiana road has been initiated by the Punjab government. The proposed 6-lane road would prove to be a big push to strengthen the infrastructure in the state.
Punjab govt to upgrade highways at Rs 3,080 cr
Punjab government has decided to improve road connectivity and would spend Rs 3,080 crore to convert all highways in the state into 4/6 lanes by January 2016. For this the State government is inviting more investors, the government said on July 10.
Punjab to frame policy for affordable housing
To provide houses to the people at affordable prices the Punjab government has decided to frame a policy for mega housing projects in the state. The government said the policy will incorporate provisions for group housing in a project, where it is proposed as a part of plotted development, will not exceed 20 per cent of the total area of the project. This condition, however, will not be applicable for the projects which fall in the mixed land use zone of master plan.
Punjab CM okays revised Toll Policy
The Punjab government on May 29 approved the revised toll policy aimed at the rationalisation in the toll rates besides enhancing the user acceptability in the state. The State Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal was presiding over the meeting of the Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB) at his residence in the presence of the Deputy Chief Minister Sukahbir Singh Badal.
Punjab to repair 11,000 km link roads
Punjab government on May 21 gave its nod for the repair of link roads covering 11,000 km at a cost of Rs 1,700 crore across the state to be completed by June, 2014. The State Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal gave his nod for the road repairs while reviewing the status of national highways, district roads, link roads, ROBs/RUBs, government buildings and several other infrastructure projects.
Punjab proposes 6-lane Delhi-Ludhiana e’way
The Punjab government has planned new six-lane express highway between Ludhiana and Delhi mainly to de-congest the National Highway (NH) 1 and cut short the distance between the two cities.
