Centre releases details on nuclear energy generation
The electricity generation from nuclear power in the last two years, i.e., 2014-15 and 2015-16, was 37,835 million units (MU) and 37,456 MU respectively. The generation in 2014-15 was 35,592 MU of commercial generation and 2,243 MU of infirm (non commercial) generation, while the entire generation in 2015-16 was commercial.
Air India to post operating profit of Rs 300 crore this financial year
Air India is projected to post an operating profit of Rs 300 crore in the current fiscal and there is no plan to privatise the airline, the government has confirmed.
What GST holds
All states will implement GST by July 2017. The Constitution Amendment Bill for Goods and Services Tax has been approved by the President of India post its approval in Parliament (Rajya Sabha on 3 August 2016 and Lok Sabha on 8 August 2016) and ratification by more than 50 per cent of state legislatures.
Strategic Petroleum Reserves created at 3 locations
Minister of State (I/C) for Petroleum & Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan has informed the Rajya Sabha in a written reply that under the Strategic Petroleum Reserve project Phase-I, underground rock caverns for storage of 5.33 MMT of crude oil at three locations, viz. Vishakhapatnam (1.33 MMT), Mangalore (1.50 MMT) and Padur (2.5 MMT) have been created.
