Road developers see polls to slow NHAI targets
Coming elections in the country are going to cause delay in road works. Road developers are set to see challenging business environment as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which missed project award targets in the last year by a huge margin, may not meet them.
MLA launches Rs 1.57 cr road works in Vijayawada
Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu on March 12 performed a bhoomi puja for initiation of road works worth Rs 1.57 crore at several places in Circle-2 and directed the officials concerned to expedite the projects.
In the 47 division of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, the MLA performed bhoomi puja for conversion of the existing cement roads into black top roads at Pothurivari street and old current office road with Special Development Fund.

Road works in interior Mangalore will commence soon, said Karnataka State Assembly Deputy Speaker N Yogish Bhat. With the government sanctioning the work on interior roads development in Mangalore South and Mangalore North at a cost of Rs 8.5 crore and Rs five crore respectively, the tender has been called and the work will commence shortly, he added.

AP likely to get Rs 400.81 cr for its road projects
The Union government is likely to approve rural road project proposals of Rs 400.81 crore for 138 road works in Andhra Pradesh under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh on January 16 informed this to the State Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy through a letter.
Chandigarh gets Rs 36.63 cr for road repairs, other works
To take up road works and other planned works in Chandigarh, a grant of Rs 36.63 crore has been released to the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. This is the second annual financial grant of the Corporation, which had been pending with the administration for the last four to five months. This grant is for the planned works, mainly for the road division of the engineering department to construct, widen and re-carpet roads.
