Kolkata gets Major Port of the Year Award
The Kolkata Port has been adjudged ´Major Port of the Year´ for the year 2014-15 among the 12 major ports in India at the Gateway Award 2015 ceremony. The port received this award for increased cargo volumes, optimising capacity utilisation, growth in output per berth and customer satisfaction.
Sagar Island seaport’s phase I to start from 2017
Chairman of Kolkata port RPS Kahlon has said that
construction work on the Rs 8,000-crore Sagar Island seaport in West Bengal would begin in two years and the first phase operations would commence from 2017. Once the port commence operations, cargo handling at the existing Kolkata port would be stopped and the place could be used as anchoring for barges, Kahlon said.
Kahlon given additional charge of Vizag port
RPS Kahlon, Chairman, Kolkata Port Trust, took additional charge as Chairman of the Visakhapatnam Port Trust from September 11.
Haldia Dock II project
RPS Kahlon, Chairman of Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) informed that Concast-Hyundai and Adani Ports showed interest in developing the second dock facility at Haldia.
