At the moment, we have two new projects. We are working on a project on semi-high speed train to improve the travel time between Delhi and Chandigarh. This involves our recommending ways to reduce the trip to two hours instead of the present four. We are also cooperating on stations. Stations are living spaces and not just places where people come and go.

400 railway stations to get Rs.100 crore makeover
If Indian Railway Ministry sources can be believed, the government will spend nearly Rs.100 crore to develop 400 railway stations that were announced in the Railway Budget. India´s railway stations, defined by surly staff, cheap tea, and filth carefully hidden in corners are set to become glossy, clean, and like airports.

While all the pressure to build a railway network in India in the mid-nineteenth century came from London, it is well into the 21st century that pressures of a very different kind are at work in modern-day India.

It seems the government has a few mega projects in hand. These really need to stand the test of time, and how the rollout is going to happen is going to be the single biggest challenge. The numbers are too big. They should get real in terms of achieving these numbers.
