Coal imports have fallen by 25 per cent to 14.31 million tonnes (MT) in December, due to higher availability of domestic fuel. The country had imported 19.15 MT of coal in December 2015.

Tata Steel has started export of Tata Ferroshots from its steel plant located in Kalinganagar in Jajpur district of Odisha. Rajiv Kumar, Vice President (Operation) of Tata Steel Kalinganagar Plant flagged off the first export consignment to a South East Asian country on August 23, 2016.
Tata Steel drops Gopalpur plant plan
Tata Steel has dropped plans to set up a ferrochrome complex at Gopalpur in Odisha but will build a plant with a capacity of 55,000 tonnes at the same place. This unit is scheduled for commissioning by the first week of September.
CIL, SCCL earn Rs.30,000 cr
The state-owned CIL and Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL) have earned incremental revenues of around Rs.30,000 crore through e-auction, Mjunction Services, a JV between Tata Steel and SAIL that pioneers in e-auction services, said.
