Stating that toll collected from commuters is for maintenance of the respective roads, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has stated that it would start collecting toll at Brahmarakootlu between Mangalore and BC Road from December 5. The NHAI has issued a notification to this effect.

No cancellation of toll on Jaipur h’way stretch: NHAI
Proposal to suspend toll on the Gurgaon-Jaipur stretch of NH-8 till the completion of widening of the highway was turned down by the board of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on October 22.

The proposal has been made by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and it is being studied by the Union Ministry for Road Transport and Highways.
Indian highways bring Rs 9,300 cr toll
Users of national highways in the country have paid Rs 9,283 crore toll in 2012-13 financial year, which is 30 per cent more than the last year figures, said the Union Road Transport Ministry. 74 per cent of the toll sum collected has gone to private road developers like Larsen & Toubro, IL&FS Transportation, Reliance Infrastructure, IRB Infrastructure, Ashoka Buildcon, Sadbhav Engineering, Gammon and HCC, who have got rights to widen the national highways and collect toll.
MSRDC withdraws toll rebate to Thane locals
In Thane area, the order on rebate on toll given to local residents by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is said to have overturned. The order had granted toll concessions to people living near toll booths. The MSRDC officials were under pressure from toll contractors, it is said.
