Next time the thermal power plants in Udupi and Ballari stop production owing to technical problems, Bengaluru may not have to face power cuts. It´ll be in a more comfortable position once production begins in 2018 at the 350-MW gas-based power plant coming up in Yelahanka.

CCI nod to Adani-Lanco power plant deal
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has cleared Adani Power´s proposed deal with Lanco Infratech to buy latter´s 1,200-MW imported coal-fired power plant at Udupi in Karnataka for more than Rs 6,000 crore.
Minister lays foundation for Udupi road works
For developing the road of Shirvapadav – Kallottu – Moodu Mattaru Road in Udupi foundation stone was laid by the Karnataka Urban Development and Udupi district-in-charge Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake on October 15. A total of Rs 20 lakh is to be spent on the road work.
Urban amenities to four Karnataka cities at Rs 450 cr
Karnataka government would take up several urban development works in Mangalore, Udupi, Puttur and Kundapur under the second phase of Karnataka Urban Development and Coastal Environmental Management Project (Kudcemp) at a cost of Rs 450 crore. The Project would be taken up with a loan from the Asian Development Bank, said the State Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake on August 12.
Roads in a bad shape in Malnad region of Karnataka
In Karnataka's Malnad region, roads of Shimoga district that connect the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada are in a pathetic condition. While Tirthahalli, Hosanagar and Sagar taluks fall in the Malnad region, Bhadravati, Shimoga, Shikaripur and Sorab taluks are in the semi-Malnad region.
