Uttarakhand gives high priority to road repairs
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to carry out repair and maintenance of roads in the state. The prolonged monsoon and heavy rains caused extensive damage to the roads and now as the monsoon had come to an end, the maintenance and repair of roads should be taken on priority, the Chief Minister said.

The Chandigarh-Mandi-Manali National Highway will soon be upgraded to four lane, Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has announced. Singh, who announced the decision while presiding over the review meeting of Public Works Department (PWD), said that National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) will undertake the construction work in the NH 21.
