Water Transport Workers Federation urged the Chennai Port to develop the proposed mega container terminal of its own instead of awarding the project to a BOT or PPP (public private partnership) operator. This is one of the demands made by the federation in its representation submitted to the Union Shipping Secretary recently. The other demands include full budgetary support for the development of the outer harbour project at VOC Port
