Telangana has sought the Centre´s immediate intervention to bail it out from a possible worst-ever power crisis during next summer.
India´s newest State is also preparing to buy expensive power from open market sources and invite bids to buy at least 500 MW of power under the short-term purchase route to avert a major crisis that could potentially impede its economy. Telangana, which was carved out of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh on June 2 last year, needs more power than the residual Andhra Pradesh State owing to demand from industrial and agricultural consumers.
