To augment and strengthen power transmission network in Bihar, the state government has prepared a master plan for the next 10 years. Under the plan, various works have been identified in the light of projected demand for power. Bihar expects power availability in the state to go up to 6,000 MW by the end of the current 12th Plan period in 2017 from about 2,000 MW at present. For this, massive augmentation and upgradation of the state grid and substations is required. New transmission grid sub-stations and transmission lines of 400/220/132 kV will need to be constructed.
