Thales has signed an 11-year avionics support deal covering IndiGo’s current fleet of 430 Airbus A320s and over 800 future A32X aircraft, marking one of India’s largest long-term aviation maintenance programmes.

Thales has signed two strategic contracts with IndiGo, India’s largest airline, to support long-term fleet maintenance and digital transformation. The agreements include an 11-year avionics repair and spares programme for over 1,200 aircraft, and a five-year extension for the fleet-wide deployment of AvioBook Flight, an Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) solution.

Under the 11-year maintenance contract, Thales will provide expert repair services for IndiGo’s current fleet of 430 Airbus A320 aircraft and its future order of more than 800 A32X aircraft. The programme includes Thales’s ‘Avionics-By-The-Hour’ (ABTH) and ‘Repair-By-The-Hour’ (RBTH) solutions, designed to ensure the availability of critical components, reduce aircraft downtime, and enhance operational reliability.

Repairs will be managed at Thales’s new state-of-the-art avionics MRO facility in Gurugram, located near Delhi airport. The centre is equipped with advanced diagnostic and repair technologies to meet growing demand from India’s aviation sector. Thales’s technicians specialise in maintaining complex avionics systems in compliance with global safety and regulatory standards.

“Our new MRO facility in India increases Thales’s ability to provide a swift, reliable service, backed by the power of our global organisation, to meet the evolving demands of the Indian aviation industry,” said Thomas Got, Vice-President, Aviation Global Services, Thales.

“With IndiGo’s growing scale and fleet, this association aligns with our commitment to offer a hassle-free and safe flying experience to our customers, while ensuring operational excellence and reliability,” added Parichay Datta, Senior Vice-President, Engineering, IndiGo.

Thales has also renewed its five-year contract with AvioBook, a Thales company, for AvioBook Flight, the only EFB solution currently authorised for paperless operations by India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Already deployed across IndiGo’s fleet, AvioBook Flight supports over 2,000 daily flights and has significantly reduced paper consumption, advancing the airline’s sustainability goals.
