Efforts to decongest the already burgeoning train traffic at Tirupati railway station seem to have finally fallen into place with plans afoot for constructing a new entrance on the southern side of the facility.

The proposal, which has been moving at a snail´s pace for long, has now picked up with the state government initiating the process for acquiring and handing over 1.83 acres of private land to the Railways. Divisional Railway Manager (Guntakal) Manoj Joshi opined that the new entrance with an extra platform would ease the congestion and give an opportunity for handling extra trains.
