This marks Suzlon’s second-largest order to date and reflects the growing importance of Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy projects in accelerating India’s clean energy transition.

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), a subsidiary of The Tata Power Co. Ltd, has awarded a contract to the Suzlon Group for the supply of wind turbine generators totalling 838 MW. The turbines will support TPREL’s Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) projects across multiple states, scheduled for phased commissioning over the next few years.

FDRE is a new model in India’s clean energy transition that combines solar and wind generation with energy storage systems—such as batteries and pumped hydro—to deliver round-the-clock, grid-stable renewable power. The initiative reflects TPREL’s strategic focus on scaling up wind-led clean energy solutions that are reliable, dispatchable and economically viable.

TPREL’s wind energy portfolio exceeds 3.9 GW, with over 1 GW operational and the remainder under various stages of development across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Under the agreement, Suzlon—India’s largest wind energy solutions provider—will deliver a comprehensive end-to-end solution, leveraging its manufacturing footprint, engineering expertise and project execution capabilities. This marks Suzlon’s second-largest order to date, following the 1,544 MW contract from NTPC Green Energy, and highlights the growing role of FDRE projects in accelerating India’s energy transition.

The collaboration also supports Tata Power’s goal of achieving 100 per cent clean energy by 2045. The company’s total renewable energy portfolio currently stands at 15.7 GW, of which 6.9 GW is sourced from clean energy.

“We share a deep-rooted vision of creating innovative energy solutions that are not only reliable and cost-efficient but also designed to seamlessly integrate with India’s One Grid system,” said Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman, Suzlon Group.

“TPREL is a discerning partner that demands the highest standards of technology, reliability and execution. They set benchmarks that push the entire industry forward, ensuring wind plays its rightful role in delivering round-the-clock, dispatchable clean power at scale,” added JP Chalasani, CEO, Suzlon Group.

This agreement marks the third strategic collaboration between TPREL and Suzlon, building on a partnership that spans more than a decade.
