During a meeting with Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar discussed the need to expedite critical infrastructure projects in the state.

Sarkar informed Singh that some of the critical infrastructure projects likely to be implemented by the central government in the state are behind schedule.

The chief minister met the Planning Commission chief to decide the annual plan outlay for state, which was finalised at Rs 2,500 crore for 2013-14.

Tripura’s growth rate for the 11th plan has been very good, roughly the same as the country as a whole, Ahluwalia told reporters after the meeting.

Sarkar said the highest priority will be given to general economic services followed by social services and agriculture in the state.

He said efforts are on to create investor friendly environment and open up social sector for private investments.
