Villagers stopped the mining project at NTPC’s Pakri-Barwadih coal block demanding higher compensation from the state-run coal producer for acquiring the cultivable land. NTPC, which wants to mine the block to run its ultra mega power project, refused to raise compensation amount from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 40 lakh as demanded by villagers.
