The Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Board has approved the proposal to set up two large sea water desalination projects to the South of Chennai. The aim is to ensure drinking water supply to the Chennai city. One of these plants will come up at Perur with a capacity of 400 million litre a day (MLD). The project is estimated to cost Rs 4,070 crore.
