The West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency has received financial assistance from Ministry of New And Renewable Energy for various off-grid solar photovoltaic systems and power projects.

During 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13, the Agency received Rs 11.78 crore, Rs 12.47 crore, Rs 8.12 crore and Rs 3.82 crore respectively for the solar projects.

The Ministry, under the off-grid and decentralised solar application scheme of JNNSM provides a subsidy of 30 per cent of the project cost ranging from Rs 42 to Rs 72 per watt peak for off-grid SPV power plants having module capacity up to 100 kWp depending on their capacity and configuration in general category States.
