On the Nashik-Pune highway, work of widening the Nashik-Sinnar stretch got a respite on December 12 as the Bombay High Court denied extension of the stay order.
According to media reports, after hearing the writ petition filed by the residents of villages along the stretch from Nashik Road to Sinnar, who were demanding better compensation and change of alignment, the high court had on July 25 ordered an interim stay on the works to be carried out by the division of National Highway (NH)-9.
But after hearing both the parties the high court has denied extending the stay. The residents of various villages from Gurewadi, Palse and others dotting the Nashik Road-Sinnar stretch of nearly 35 km had filed a writ petition in the court in December last year.
