India’s flagship wind energy event returns with over 350 exhibitors, global pavilions, and a sharp focus on policy, manufacturing, and net-zero goals.
Windergy India 2025, the country’s premier international trade fair and conference dedicated to wind energy, is set to take place from October 29-31 at the Chennai Trade Centre. The seventh edition of the event will be inaugurated by Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, alongside Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy. With over 350 exhibitors from more than 20 countries and an expected footfall of 15,000 visitors, the event is poised to be a defining platform for India’s wind energy ambitions.
India currently ranks fourth globally in installed wind power capacity, with 52.6 GW as of August 2025. Since 2014, the country’s wind capacity has grown by over 150 per cent, reinforcing its position as a key player in the global renewable energy landscape. The government’s target of achieving 150 GW of wind capacity is now within striking distance, supported by policy reforms and fiscal incentives. A recent reduction in GST on wind energy equipment from 12 per cent to 5 per cent is expected to further boost affordability and innovation across the value chain.
At a pre-event media briefing in New Delhi on October 14, industry leaders, including Akash Passey of ZF Group, K Bharathy of Windar Renewable Energy, and Aditya Pyasi of Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA), emphasised the importance of policy continuity, manufacturing scale, and export competitiveness in realising India’s 100 GW wind target by 2030. They also highlighted the role of annual 10 GW tendering and the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM)-Wind policy in creating long-term visibility for investors and original equipment makers.
Strategic Dialogues on India’s Wind Future
The opening day will feature the Tulsi R Tanti Memorial Lecture, followed by high-powered sessions on state leadership in wind, manufacturing roadmaps, global best practices in O&M, and cost optimisation strategies for raw material suppliers. Day two will spotlight the commercial and industrial (C&I) market for wind and hybrid projects, repowering of ageing wind assets, domestic supply chain competitiveness, and offshore wind development. A special session titled ‘Winds of Influence’ will celebrate the contributions of women leaders shaping India’s wind sector.
Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd (KREDL) joins as the partner state, showcasing the state’s leadership in wind innovation. Country pavilions from Denmark, Germany, and Spain will provide global heft to the exhibition floor while key industry players such as Suzlon, Envision, GE Vernova, Senvion, Winergy, and Exxon Mobil will anchor the exhibitor lineup. The event will also feature participation from logistics, component, and digital solution providers, reflecting the sector’s growing ecosystem.
Windergy India 2025 arrives at a pivotal moment in India’s energy transition. Themed ‘Wind Power: Policies and Partnerships Towards Aatmanirbharta,’ the conference will bring together policymakers, regulators, OEMs, IPPs, and global technology providers to deliberate on the sector’s evolving role in achieving India’s net-zero and energy self-reliance goals. The event is jointly organised by the IWTMA and PDA Ventures, with support from the Ministry of Power, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, NITI Aayog, and a wide array of industry associations and international partners.
