Road works in interior Mangalore will commence soon, said Karnataka State Assembly Deputy Speaker N Yogish Bhat. With the government sanctioning the work on interior roads development in Mangalore South and Mangalore North at a cost of Rs 8.5 crore and Rs five crore respectively, the tender has been called and the work will commence shortly, he added.
Bhat was speaking at the title deeds distribution to 85 beneficiary families from Mangalore North constituency under Vajapayee Nagara Niveshana Yojane at Mangalore City Corporation Council Hall on February 9. Speaking about some of the developmental work in the city, he said the foundation stone was laid for the community building for scheduled caste and scheduled tribe community members in the city. The building will be developed at a cost of Rs 1.2 crore.
On construction of houses to those who have been given title deeds under the scheme, he said that a proposal has been made to construct flats for the beneficiaries in place of independent houses. Though independent houses will be constructed for the beneficiaries under Vajapyee Nagara Vasathi Yojane in 10 acres of land in Mangalore North constituency, there are plans to construct flats for the beneficiaries of Mangalore South constituency.
