For seamless travel through Shiradi Ghat, between Bengaluru and coastal Karnataka, the State Government has proposed to construct a 29-km tunnel route on this section. The estimated cost of the tunnel project is Rs 10,000 crore. The project would be executed with financial assistance from the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA), Public Works Minister H C Mahadevappa said in Bengaluru. The department will prepare a DPR on the proposed tunnel route project.
