NTPC has proposed to lay a 40-km long pipeline for ash disposal from the four units of the 3,000-MW NTPC Kaniha plant in order to restart operation of the four units. The State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) had earlier issued closure order on these four units on grounds of environment concerns. The company said it would build the pipeline to carry ash from its power station to nearby Talcher coalfields to fill the mine voids. The project is expected to be commissioned in two years.
