Uttar Pradesh government has been urging the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) to expedite work on the Gomti river front project.
Lack of coordination between different authorities caused undue delay in the project, which is planned on the lines of the Sabarmati riverfront development project.
LDA has been made the nodal agency for the project. It has to coordinate with other departments for timely execution of the project.
LDA, which has engaged a consultant for the project, may soon prepare a project report so that it could be put forth before the chief minister.
UP Chief Secretary Jawed Usmani said the report must incorporate the suggestions and views of the public, especially on the stretches along the Kudia Ghat, Pakka Pul in Daliganj, Hanuman Setu-Daliganj, Hanuman Setu-Nishatganj and Nishatganj-Gomti barrage.
The state government has also proposed a hydro-geological study of the area and preparation of a conceptual plan.
The authority would use the open spaces optimally for construction of entertainment and development areas. These spaces will be used for construction of a cycle track and other tourist hot-spots so that maximum number of people visit these places.
The budget allocated for the project may include part of the funds sanctioned for other departments like urban development previously.
