In Mumbai, construction of Peddar Road flyover has seen some progress as the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has called for a project management consultant to supervise the work of the controversial project, said Bipin Shrimali, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of MSRDC.

Now, MSRDC to appoint a consultant for the construction stage, he added. The MSRDC has already received proposals from private firms ready to build the flyover. The authorities are yet to award the tender to the lowest bidder. Companies that have submitted bids include Gammon, GMC, Simplex, J Kumar, L&T and IL&FS.

The flyover, with a 4.2 km-long length, has an estimated price tag of Rs 380 crore. As per the present schedule, the bid documents will be opened by mid-February. As per the blue print of the bridge, it will begin at Haji Ali junction which is also known as Lala Lajpatrai Road, pass from Peddar Road or Dr Gopalrao Deshmukh Road clearing the Kemps Corner junction and then take a right turn towards Babulnath Temple finally coming out at Girgaum Chowpatty. The viaduct will terminate outside Wilson College.
