Initial procedures for the flyover work at Edappally junction in Kochi has commenced. The landmarking procedures for the Edappally flyover construction has been started by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
According to DMRC, it has already started earmarking the area in and around the Edappally junction for the four-lane flyover construction.

Concrete marks have been fixed at the St Gregory school compound and outside the Edappally church premises. As per the design, the Edappally flyover will start near the Federal Bank towards Ernakulam and end near the Petrol pump towards Aluva. A portion of the St George School compound stretch (2.9 metres) will also be acquired. Bakeries and shops near the school will be demolished for the construction, DMRC said.

The total estimated land acquisition in the area towards Ernakulam is less than 4,000 sq m, and less than 3,000 sq m towards Aluva. However, the total land and the cost for the construction of the flyover are minimal compared to the amount proposed by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) which had estimated at Rs 700 crore. The construction will commence once the land is officially handed over to the DMRC.
