Aiming to achieve faster completion of work with safety
Finally, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has turned the fortunes for Airport Express Line metro system. According to DMRC release, the footfall that connects the New Delhi railway station in the heart of Delhi to the airport has increased four times. This is mainly because slashing of fares from Rs.180 to Rs.60 by DMRC.
When the construction work of the Metro was started in Kolkata and later in Delhi, Indian engineers did not have the required experience to execute projects of such mammoth proportions. For the Delhi Metro, we had hired a consortium of foreign engineers who had supervised our first phase of construction
It seems the government has a few mega projects in hand. These really need to stand the test of time, and how the rollout is going to happen is going to be the single biggest challenge. The numbers are too big. They should get real in terms of achieving these numbers.
After slashing fares to bring in more commuters, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is trying other ways of increasing revenue on the Airport line. From March 1, DMRC will start cargo services on the Airport Express line on an experimental basis.
Kochi Metro will begin commercial operations on November 1 - Kerala Formation Day, since both Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and Kerala Metro Rail Limited are confident of completing all works and obtaining mandatory clearance by that time, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said.
