Potholes on the busy Bangalore-Mangalore highway’s Shiradi Ghat stretch will be filled by January 31. Work of filling potholes has already started. The repair work will be carried out in a transparent mannerm, said the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Oscar Fernandes in Mangalore on December 30.
The Minister said that Union government has sanctioned Rs 95 crore for rebuilding the 47 km stretch after filling up the potholes.
Rebuilding the stretch will require 18 months to complete, he added.
Fernandes said that a detailed feasibility report was being prepared for the proposed underpass at the Nanthoor Circle (in the city) for which the Union government has sanctioned Rs 40 crore and Rs 22 crore had been sanctioned for widening the service roads at some stretches between BC Road and Surathkal.
