As the 100 agreement labourers involved in moving containers to and from the DP World-operated International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) in Kochi went on a strike from late afternoon on December 23. As a result, container movement at the ICTT has come to a standstill.
A representative for Swathanthra Container Lorry Thozhilali Union and Cochin Port Staff Union, representing ATV drivers involved in moving the cargo containers, said that the agreement workers had been denied their installment of bonus ahead of Christmas.
