In a leap for the power sector in Maharashtra, the state electricity generation utility´s first super-critical power generating set at the Koradi thermal power station has started commercial operations. The 660 MW set in the power plant near Nagpur is the first to be based on the technology, which saves coal and is environment-friendly. The unit replaces four antiquated 120 MW sets at the power station, which were unviable for operations.
The capacity addition takes the Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited´s installed power generation capacity to 12,077 MW.
