MEP Infrastructure Developers hopes to file initial documents in December to launch its infrastructure investment trust (InvIT), according to MEP’s Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Jayant Mhaiskar. The company has set a target of launching the InvIT before March 2017.

MEP had initially set November 2016 as the target to file the draft red herring prospectus for the InvIT, after the toll road company got in-principle approval from market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India.

"But since many things need to be sorted out, we are now hoping that we will be able to file the DRHP by December," said Mhaiskar.

In 2014, SEBI allowed the launch of real estate investment trusts (REITs) and InvITs to enable companies obtain easier access to funds.
