Hindustan Unilever (HUL) has forged a strategic partnership with Brookfield to establish a solar energy park with a capacity of 45 MW in Rajasthan, marking a significant move towards achieving its net-zero goals. The solar project will be developed at the site of Brookfield’s solar park, part of the Brookfield Global Transition Fund. HUL aims to achieve Scope 1 and 2 emissions reduction in line with its commitment to zero emissions in operations by 2030. Aligned with India’s commitment in COP26 to reach 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030, the initiative will use group captive models for renewable energy procurement. Additionally, the company is committed to achieving net-zero emissions for all its products, from sourcing to the point of sale, by 2039.
