Adani Ports and SEZ plans to expand the operating envelope at its newly commenced Adani Hazira Container Terminal (AHCT) at Adani Hazira Port (AHPPL) in the coming months in order to boost containerized cargo traffic.

The terminal recently received Customs notification and it was subsequently dedicated as a gateway for export-import trade in India. Adani Ports and SEZ is committed to developing and providing world class terminal infrastructure to support its customers in Gujarat, North and West India, the company said in a press release.

AHCT is strategically located at a distance of about 120 nautical miles north of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) (Nhava Sheva) and will serve as the gateway port for the rich and immediate hinterland comprising South Gujarat, North Maharashtra and Central India. The phase 1 infrastructure developed at AHCT comprises.

Hinterland cargo connectivity for imports and exports to North and West Inland Container Terminal (ICD) will be provided from the nearest ICD operated by KRIL, which is 14 kilometer (km) from the container terminal. AHCT will provide connectivity between the container terminal and ICD-KRIL for all customers.

AHCT also houses an on-dock Container Freight Station (CFS) which will provide facilities for stuffing/destuffing and warehousing of cargo. The CFS has an initially notified warehouse space of 150,000 square feet, which will be further expanded to 350,000 square feet.
