Under the MoU, Avaada will develop 5 GW of solar power, 1 GW of wind energy, and 5 GWh of battery storage across Gujarat’s Kutchh, Banaskantha and Surendranagar districts.
Avaada Group has signed a ₹360 billion memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government to develop large-scale solar, wind and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across the state. The agreement, formalised at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2025, marks a major step in India’s clean energy transition and reinforces Gujarat’s positioning as a renewable energy hub.
Under the MoU, Avaada will establish 5 GW of solar power capacity, 1 GW of wind power, and 5 GWh of battery storage across Kutchh, Banaskantha and Surendranagar districts. The projects are expected to commence between 2027 and 2030, delivering firm green power beyond solar hours and enhancing grid reliability.
The integrated portfolio is projected to cut over 12 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually and conserve approximately 166 million litres of water through robotic module cleaning technology. Avaada estimates the creation of over 1,000 direct and 2,000 indirect green jobs, with an additional 5,000 employment opportunities during the construction phase.
“Avaada Group has been a trusted partner in Gujarat’s renewable energy journey since signing its first 40 MW MoU sixteen years ago,” said Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. “Their new ₹360 billion investment further strengthens our shared vision for sustainable growth.”
Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, added, “India’s journey towards energy independence is being powered by visionary partnerships and bold investments like this. Avaada’s commitment to solar, wind and battery storage will help us achieve Atmanirbhar Bharat and Net Zero by 2070.”
Avaada Group Chairman Vineet Mittal said the company’s solar journey began in Gujarat with India’s first large-scale 15 megawatt-peak (MWp) ground-mounted solar plant.
“This investment is a step forward in realising India’s renewable energy ambitions. We are committed to making green power as reliable as conventional energy and supplying it round-the-clock at affordable prices.”
The announcement follows the recent inauguration of Avaada’s 280 MW solar power project in Surendranagar by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The prime minister also laid the foundation stone for Avaada’s 100 MW solar project in Vadodara district, spread across 350 acres and entailing an investment of ₹4 billion.
