In Tamil Nadu, Madurai airport will get international connectivity to Singapore and Dubai, which will possibly materialise by next year and the Union Civil Aviation Ministry is working on the same. This was announced by Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, KC Venugopal at the inauguration of the Virudhunagar - Manamadurai BG section at Aruppukottai on July 14.

Kuala Namu International Airport to open on July 25
Media reports say that the Kuala Namu International Airport in Medan, North Sumatra, is set to begin operations from July 25, 2013, said Salahuddin Rafi, Airport Director, PT Angkasa Pura II. AAI to finalise sites of low-cost airports in Punjab
Within a fortnight of the Union government announcing three low-cost airports in Punjab, a high-powered committee of the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has arrived in the state to test the feasibility of the airports. On July 11, the four-member team led by Joint General Manager N Makhija arrived to check the economic and technical feasibility of constructing low-cost domestic airports in Patiala, Ferozepur, Jalandhar and Ludhiana.

The Mysore Airport, on the lines of Mangalore airport which has got international tag, has also started thinking on terms of becoming an international airport. Govt to raise Rs 1,000 cr via tax free bonds for airports
The government of India has decided to set up new airports in small cities and Airport Authority of India is all set to issue tax free bonds in this financial year to raise funds up to Rs 1,000 crore. The funds thus raised will be used for the development of low-cost airports. Maturity period of these bonds is going o be ten years. Those who invest in these bonds will also get tax benefits. IAF clearance sought for cargo complex in Pune
In Pune, the Air Force Station (AFS), Lohegaon, has asked the Pune airport authorities to provide proper coordinates and survey details of a seven-acre private plot that the latter had identified for an air cargo complex. The plot is located near the newly developed vehicle parking lot outside the airport premises.
CISF finds faults with IGI airport security system
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), custodians of the security at Delhi’s IGI airport, have found several glaring faults with the perimeter intrusion detection system (PIDS) — touted as a state-of-the-art mechanism to secure the airport’s boundaries. The system was supposed to be installed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) before the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
Plea to relocate airport slum-dwellers to rehab building
Activists have demanded the relocation of the residents of Beryl Pereira Compound, Kurla, after a third land slide incident in the area in a month. Nicholas Almeida, convenor, Watchdog Foundation said there was a landslide on June 27 due to heavy downpour and then again a week later. On July 10 there was a third landslide at the same location.
Airport befits religious tourist spot Kurukshetra
A team of the Airport Authority of India (AAI) had inspected an airstrip at Newal near Kurukshetra in last October last year to check the feasibility of a domestic airport. AAI findings are yet to be made public. The Karnal MP Arvind Sharma is demanding airport for his constituency.
Panaji airport complying with environmental norms: AAI
Following the Goa State Pollution Control Board's (GSPCB) complaints about environmental pollution and sewage overflow at the Dabolim airport, Panaji the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has taken action to ensure that the airport functions in compliance with all environmental norms. Goa airport is managing municipal solid waste without causing any pollution to the surroundings.
