Seven months back, the Maharashtra government appointed City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) as the special planning authority for villages coming under Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA). Since the Cidco was appointed as the special authority, residents in the area are are facing lot of problems as the local self-governing bodies are not paying attention to their civic problems.

Govt takes up modernisation of airports
The Union government, as part of its modernisation and upgradation of airports has constructed new terminal buildings of airports at Kolkata, Chennai, Ranchi, Raipur, Puducherry, Bhubaneshwar and Jaisalmer (Civil Enclave), said the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, KC Venugopal in the Lok Sabha on August 22.
Nod given to Kannur geenfield airport project: Minister
The Union government has granted 'in-principle' approval for setting up of a greenfield airport at Kannur in Kerala. The project is to be implemented on Build Own and Operate (BOO) model, said the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, KC Venugopal in the Lok recently.

Chennai airport New International Terminal is ready
The Airports Authority of India on August 6 stated that the new International Terminal at Chennai airport has been built at a cost of about Rs 2,000 crore. It added that the new terminal was scheduled to begin operations on August 7.
Recarpeting soon for runway of Nagpur airport
Upon requesting the Airports Authority of India (AAI) by the MIHAN India Limited to recarpet the runway of Nagpur's Dr BabasahebAmbedkar International Airport, the AAI is in the process and has completed the tender process for allotting the work for re-carpeting the runway. Re-carpeting work on the runway is to begin after the monsoons.
