IndiGo, India’s leading airline by fleet and market share, has announced the launch of non‑stop, bi‑weekly flights between Guwahati and Bangkok, effective October 27, 2026. This marks the start of IndiGo’s international operations from Guwahati and the commencement of direct international services from Northeast India, further expanding the airline’s growing India-Thailand network. Customers can plan and book their travel through IndiGo’s official website, mobile application, or authorised travel partners.
For IndiGo, the new route represents a significant milestone. Guwahati has been part of the airline’s growth story since its early days, including its inaugural Delhi-Guwahati-Imphal flight in 2006. “Beginning international operations from the city underscores IndiGo’s continued commitment to enhancing connectivity from the region,” the airline said in an official statement.
The introduction of direct flights between Guwahati and Bangkok will open new opportunities for leisure and business travel, while serving as a catalyst for boosting tourism, trade and cultural exchange between Northeast India and Thailand. The service will also strengthen Guwahati’s position as an emerging international gateway, improving access to Southeast Asia and supporting inbound tourism to the region.
The Assam capital is also an important pivot in India’s Act East policy.
Thailand remains one of the most sought‑after international destinations for Indian travellers. IndiGo already connects Bangkok from Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai; operates direct services to Phuket from Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai; and to Krabi from Delhi. IndiGo will also commence direct flights between Gaya and Bangkok from October 26, 2026, creating a direct air bridge between one of Buddhism’s most sacred pilgrimage sites and Thailand.
