A new parking policy for Mumbai is being brought out by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) under which BMC plans to give permits to local residents to park vehicles on road. The BMC is compiling a list of roads where residents can park vehicles on one side of the road. They will then be given annual permits allowing them to park their cars there; no other vehicle can park on these roads. New buses to ply on Tricity roads
The Union Territory administration on May 23 decided to to focus on better transport for Tricity-Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali by replacing old buses with new ones and upgrading primary education with future population growth in mind. PM’s secretary tells officials in TN to speed up road projects

Federation suggests ports to avoid PPP projects

Kerala takes up major road projects for Kochi city
Kerala government has taken up four major road and building projects that would contribute to the development of Kochi city. Work on the projects were scheduled to begin on May 22. This will include the Rs 660-crore Seaport-Airport Road second phase development, four-laning of the present road; construction of the Roads and Bridges Development Corporation Kerala office and shopping mall and the construction of the first concrete road.

Punjab to repair 11,000 km link roads
Punjab government on May 21 gave its nod for the repair of link roads covering 11,000 km at a cost of Rs 1,700 crore across the state to be completed by June, 2014. The State Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal gave his nod for the road repairs while reviewing the status of national highways, district roads, link roads, ROBs/RUBs, government buildings and several other infrastructure projects.

Kumarakom’s 10-year-old bridge to get an approach road
In Kerala, residents of Kannadichal in Kumarakom panchayat are expecting that they will be third-time lucky in the case of the completion of the approach road of a bridge, which was constructed almost 10 years ago. Hazaribag’s rural roads to be repaired at Rs 80 lakh
In Jharkhand's Hazaribag, the District Deputy Commissioner ManishRanjan has sanctioned Rs 80 lakh for repair and construction of rural roads and bridges from the development funds that the district received from the state government. The money was sanctioned after the DC reviewed the progress of construction of roads and bridges both in the rural area and the state highways with the engineers of the PWD roads division and the Hazaribag special (rural) division here on Sunday.

West Bengal Public Works Department's NH wing has stepped up repair work on a number of national highway stretches across the state. They are putting to use funds from both the Union ministry of road, transport and highways and the state budget.
