Pune’s Mumbai-Blore h’way junction renamed as NDA Chowk

The junction that joins Mumbai-Bangalore National Highway and Pune-Paud Road in Pune area was renamed NDA Chowk on April 20. The name change ceremony took place at the junction in the presence of National Defence Academy (NDA) and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials. The junction also leads to a road to the NDA campus.

TN to spend Rs 82.33 cr for NH upgradation

A series of road projects have been announced by the Tamil Nadu Government on April 15, including upgradation activities. The State Highways and Minor Ports Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami told the State Assembly that Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa had directed upgradation of 81.27 km of National Highways at an estimated sum of Rs 82.33 crore.

In Kerala, more than Rs 20 crore has gone to waste in the name of land acquisition for widening of the Thiruvananthapuram-Cherthala stretch of NH 47. While the second deadline for the land acquisition notification lapsed last month, no land has been handed over to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for widening the highway.

Govt targets to award 9,000 km road projects in FY14

The Union Road Transport and Highways Ministry on April 16 stated that it has fixed an internal target of giving 9,000 km of projects in 2013-14 to ensure award of at least 7,300 km to revive the sector. The Ministry in an official statement said that for the FY 2013-14, the internal target has been fixed at 9,000 km of National Highways so as to ensure award of at least 7300 km.
