Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said on February 3 that a 'Road Maintenance Policy will be ready for construction of new roads and upkeep of existing ones in Bihar. The NDA government in Bihar has been giving top priority to construction of roads and has declared 4,857 km as state highways. Work is in progress on a 387 km stretch, he added.

Govt to improve roads in Naxal-hit regions
Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh on February 4 said the Centre has decided to improve the condition of roads in the Naxal-hit regions under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). He observed that Naxalism can be tackled only through development.
MP gets Centre’s nod to construct 4,675 km roads
Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY), the Union government has sanctioned 4,675 km long 1,521 new roads costing Rs 1,780 crore to Madhya Pradesh. Following construction of these roads, 1,600 habitats will be linked by all-weather roads with development block, tehsil and district levels, an official release issued in Bhopal said.
Work on new highway in Kerala to begin on Feb 10
In Kerala, work on the proposed Kuttippuram-Puthupponnani National Highway (NH) will begin on February 10. The State Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the work at a function to be held in Chamravattom. The highway is going to be constructed parallel to the existing NH 17.
Rs 20 cr allotted to bypass road in Kerala’s Kottayam dist
In Kerala's Kottayam district, the combined bypass road that connects MC road at Thiruvalla to KK Road in Manarcad will soon be a reality. The tendering process for upgrading the existing road is complete, said Jose K Mani MP on February 4. A fund of Rs 20 crore has been allotted by the Centre for the purpose from the Central Road fund, said Mani.
