Dhaka gets its longest flyover
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formally opened the countryÂ’s longest Jatrabari-Gulistan flyover amidst public fanfare in the Bangladesh capital, Dhaka on October 11. With this, Dhaka citizens' dream for an elevated roadway in their city has been fulfilled.
Bhubaneswar to get 3 flyovers at Rs 140 cr
To tide over the traffic snarls in Bhubaneswar, the Odisha government has decided to construct three more flyovers at a cost of Rs 140 crore at Housing Board Square, Nalco Square and Damana Square. While the flyover at Housing Board Square would be built at a cost of nearly Rs 74 crore, the overbridges at Nalco Square and Damana would be commissioned at around Rs 66 crore each.
Highway developers can collect only 75% toll during work
Road developers in the country will be allowed to charge only 75 per cent toll during the work on six-laning of highway stretches. This was decided by the Union Cabinet last week. To ensure that developers don't delay construction, the Union government also allowed tolling to be suspended for failure to meet the deadline.
Work to start soon on a new bridge near Kolhapur
Work on a parallel bridge to Shivaji Bridge on Panchaganga River, to connect Kolhapur to Konkan area in Maharashtra, is likely to start from next week. The bridge work has been taken up by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
Contract renegotiation may be a reality
The government is considering the introduction of a force majeure clause in public-private partnership projects to allow renegotiation of contracts to revive private participation in infrastructure development and salvage some big-ticket projects.
Bangalore roads to get a facelift at Rs 908 cr
Bangalore city roads will get a face-lift at a cost of Rs 908 crore in the next few months, said the Chief Minister SiddarÂamaiah. He stated this after laying the foundation stone for a grade separator on West of Chord Road in the city.

NGO plans green fence to Mumbai-Pune E’way
To form a fencing with trees to the busiest 93 km Mumbai-Pune express highway, a Mumbai-based non-governmental organisation, Fulora Foundation is to plant 1.5 lakh trees. The objective of the tree planting is to form a fence to the highway, on which the number of accidents were rising in recent times, say media reports.
Minister declines to comment on h’way premium rescheduling
Union Road Minister Oscar Fernandes has declined to comment on the government permitting premium rescheduling for highways projects after two days the Cabinet took a decision on permitting premium rescheduling for highways projects.
