Delhi-based Centre for Science and Environment has praised the initiative of the Chennai Corporation of widening of footpaths, make them pedestrian friendly and regulate traffic on the city roads. The Corporation is widening the footpaths from 1.5 metre to 3 metre by reclaiming space.

Repair to key road in Imphal ahead of Sangai fest
In Imphal, the Manipur government is planning to revamp the roads around Palace Compound ahead of the Sangai Festival. The government said that process for construction of Sanjenthong bridge would start once designing of the bridge is completed.
Plea to repair Kanyakulangara-Pothencode road
In Thiruvananthapuram, residents of Kanyakulangara-Pothencode stretch are unhappy over the poor state of the 3-kilometre road since one year. The stretch is one of the important roads that many use on a daily basis. Rains have damaged the entire road and commuters are facing hardships in commuting on the stretch.

The process for six laning of Kharar-Ludhiana road has been initiated by the Punjab government. The proposed 6-lane road would prove to be a big push to strengthen the infrastructure in the state.
Expressway to be completed 6 months early: NEC
Work on the Loknayak Ganga Path or Digha-Deedarganj high-speed corridor in Patna will begin within two months and finish the same within three-and-a-half years, six months before the deadline, said the Navayuga Engineering Company (NEC) that has bagged the expressway contract. The contract amount is Rs 1,777.73 crore.
Rs 8,500 cr road projects to start in TN next year
For implementing the World Bank backed Rs 8,583-crore road infrastructure project, the State government has allocated Rs 65 crore to prepare a detailed project report (DPR). The State Principal Secretary of Highways and Minor Ports Rajeev Ranjan said that the DPR was still being prepared for the 1,678-km road development project across the State under the public-private partnership (PPP) mode.
Temporary bridge for Dimapur area in Nagaland
Nagaland's Public Works Department Dimapur Division has provided a temporary bridge between Darogajan and Purana Bazar in Dimapur area. The officials concerned said the concrete bridge there was collapsed on last September 10 following heavy floods.
Kannur to seek funds from PWD for road works
Facing shortage of funds for road works, the Kannur municipal body is to seek funds from the Kerala Public Works Department. The municipal body wants to take up Rs 28 crore pipe-laying work which is expected to take six months. After the pipeline work, the road repair would cost around Rs 26 crore. But the municipality has no fund to repair the roads.
Road work delayed on TB Road in Kottayam
In Kottayam, the slow progress of work on a stretch of TB road is becoming a major public inconvenience. The work which started on last April 6 is moving at a snail's pace. The most worrying factor for the public is the speeding KSRTC buses which are now redirected through this road, which is under construction.
Work on Dr Bhapkar road in Aurangabad to be completed by Dec
Concreting a stretch of the road between Aurangabad railway station and Kranti Chowk in Aurangabad would be completed by the end of December, said Aurangabad civic authorities on October 14.
